Be Of Love More Careful Than Anything Else
- E.E Cummings
Love is a special word that I have found is much overused in modern society. Even as children, we learn to use this word not as it should be; not to show how much we care for a person, nor how much they mean to us but instead, we learn to use it to get what we want. When I was a little girl, I learned that saying "Daddy, I looooove you with ALL my heart" and giving him a big hug and kiss would earn me a reward. He would buy me whatever I wished to have if I just said those three little words: I Love You. With this mindset, we grow up. As we become young adolescents and have the growing desire for lust absorbing our each and every thought, we go back to the word "love". As a young man (or should I say immature boy) tells his girlfriend "I Love You", she truly does start falling for him however, his intentions are not pure. His intentions are not that of true love but instead, are filled with malevolent lies.
So How Do We Know When It Is Love And When It Is A Lie?
The Answer is We don't. As simple as that. We will never know if someone is true, for we are not mind readers. We cannot determine what they feel. The beauty of Love is that it's a mystery. A sick, yet lovely mystery. Let us not doubt that each and every one of us wants someone to love. And we must let ourselves love. True, we must not wear our heart on our sleeve and fall for every man that passes our way but, we DO need to learn that not every one has bad intentions. Some people do, indeed love us. And we must let them love us for without love, what are we? We are nothing.
